CAG September 9 Guild Meeting

We are delighted to welcome Brenda Oliver and Bohumila Augustinova as our speakers for our Guild meeting on September 9th. Brenda Oliver will be presenting on the topic of The Regrowth of an Art Program: What is necessary to bring an art studio from a small entity to a program and facility that now serves as a model for other organizations. Brenda retired as the director for the Columbia Art Center at the end of July, 2021, having served in that position for more than eleven years. Brenda increased participation and awareness which resulted in a new 5,000 square foot facility in 2017. She is married to Rush, a professor at Benedict College. They have multiple pets. Some of her favorite activities include sitting by the goldfish/koi pond, crocheting, making pottery, quilting, and sewing. Bohumila Augustinova will present on the topic of the Columbia Art Center and its present day art offerings. Bohumila is originally from the Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) and has been in SC for over twenty years. Her accomplishments include buyer and manager of the Columbia Art Museum Gift Shop, curator of Anastasia and Friends Gallery, lead for the Yarnbombers of Columbia until 2020, and many more arts activities on Main Street. She is an artist, arts activist, and organizer. Her artistic media are wire sculpture, fiber arts, recycled arts, and pottery. She is now director of the Columbia Art Center and has held this position since August 1.
